In March 2009, Scarlett received an award from the Northwest Indiana Public Information Officers Association for her donation to the 9th Annual Lake County Law Enforcements Council's luncheon. Scarlett donated a autographed copy of Invisible Shield to be given to Sgt. Jack Allendorf, who was being awarded for his heroic action in the line of duty.

Scarlett was extremely moved by Sgt. Allendorf's story, and wanted to do something to recognize other officers from all around the world, hence, the birth of "Heroes Corner".

Heroes Corner is going to be a new section here at Scarlett's Web, and we need your help! We are looking for nominees for our "Heroes of the Month page". If selected, the winner will receive their very own page on the website and a certificate of appreciation. In December, we will take all of the monthly winners and pick one for Hero of the Year! Hero of the year not only will receive their own page on the website, and certificate of recognition, but they will also receive an autographed copy of a Scarlett Dean book!

Although Invisible Shield is about detective work, and the police system, Scarlett is not limiting who can be nominated. Heroes come in many forms and ranks and deserve to be recognized for their outstanding performances. You can nominate Police, Fire, Paramedics, and last but definitely not least, our incredible Military officers who fight for our country!
